ABI.Local is a network of global ABI communities that bring programs and online community engagement to a local geography. Please join a panel of community volunteers that have designed, launched and grown the first ABI.Local community—ABI.NY. Learn how an ABI.Local is organized, strategies to effectively engage with the community, the role of events in building an ABI.Local community, and the emergence of an active, online community platform for all ABI.Local sites. This session will provide an overview of the community structure and kinds of programs an ABI.Local community can offer, including the inaugural ABI.NY GHC/1 held in New York City on March 18, 2015. The panelists will include ABI.NY founding community members. Please join us for lessons learned and next steps forward.

Global Women Technical Leaders Program: A Pilot
As ABI expands and develops local communities, we are identifying and supporting global women technical leaders. In 2015, we are piloting the Global Women Technical Leaders program by sponsoring 15 global technical leaders from outside the United States to attend the Grace Hopper Celebration US (thanks to the Anita Borg Institute, Qatar Computing Research Institute and TechWomen program).

These women will join many of the existing global technical leaders that attend GHC as members of the ABI community. ABI will convene these global technical leaders at the GHC and provide them with tools and content to take back to their communities, and hear their stories of success.

The 2015 ABI Global Women Technical Leaders Program will consist of:
• 15 ABI and QCRI sponsored technical leaders to attend the US Grace Hopper Celebration
• Three panels at GHC (first come, first seat basis)
o After the Grace Hopper Celebration: Building and Sustaining Community Panel and Q&A session on the essentials of building community and fostering community support for international women in tech.
o Accessing Global Seed Funding : Supporting International Innovators Discussion followed by audience Q&A on obtaining Seed Funding for ventures. This panel will focus on seed funding in Africa, Asia and Latin America and how to access the resources that can help finance innovation.
o So You Want to Start an ABI.Local Panel and Q&A Learn how an ABI.Local is organized, strategies to effectively engage with the community, the role of events in building an ABI.Local community, and the emergence of an active, online community platform for all ABI.Local sites.

• Local viewing parties in several US sites and London for global technical leaders unable to attend Grace Hopper
• Participation in Systers Community events throughout the conference
• Informal meet-ups or conversations during GHC
