Victoria Cepeda, originally from Chile, is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in computer science at University of Maryland, College Park. She works at her university’s Center for Bioinformatics and Computational Biology as a research assistant. Her research interests include high-performance computing and its utilization in genome assembly and sequence clustering. The majority of the data she works on is Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), and, in particular, metagenomic data (looking at microbial populations).
